We believe strongly in making a loving and lasting impact on the city that surrounds us through the love that Christ has given us. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Food for Hope's mission is to unify the community in the fight against childhood hunger and give school children a chance to thrive. Each child that enrolls with our program will receive a bag full of nutritious and healthy food to take home EVERY weekend. Summit of Peace has partnered with FFH to raise awareness, host food drives and the volunteer packing (Mondays - 5:30 pm) & delivering (Thurs & Fri). For more information contact Dick Schmitz, FFH volunteer coordinator
Summit of Peace has a Community Garden on their West Property with 4 x 8 Raised beds. Some of these beds can be worked by a family for themselves plus we have "community" beds that are tended by volunteers and the food is donated to local food banks. We hope to donate over 1000 servings of food this year. For more information contact Robbie Blum, our community gardens coordinator.
The Thornton Paint-A-Thon is a free service for elderly homeowners in the city of Thornton who need their homes painted, but cannot afford a commercial paint job. Our volunteer painting team donate their time & energy to paint the homes of these deserving homeowners.
